Durian Monthong is one of the most sought-after and prized varieties of durian, often referred to as the “King of Durians.” Originating from Thailand, the Monthong variety is well known for its large size, thick and creamy flesh, small seeds, and relatively mild aroma compared to other durian types.

The name “Monthong” translates to “Golden Pillow” in Thai, a nod to its soft, cushiony texture and golden-yellow pulp. Its flavor is rich, custard-like, and sweet, often described as a blend of almonds, vanilla, and subtle tropical notes. Unlike some sharper-smelling durians, Monthong has a more approachable scent, making it a popular choice among first-time durian tasters.

Each fruit can weigh several kilograms, with a tough, spiky green shell protecting the luscious segments inside. Monthong trees thrive in tropical climates and are typically grown in Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam, and increasingly in parts of India and Sri Lanka.
