White Jaboticaba (Plinia glomerata / Plinia aureana)
White Jaboticaba is a rare and beautiful tropical fruit tree native to Brazil, known for producing creamy-white to pale-yellow berries that grow directly on the trunk and larger branches (a unique trait called cauliflory). Unlike its more common purple-fruited relatives, the White Jaboticaba stands out with its translucent, glossy skin and a delicate, sweet flavor with floral undertones—often described as a mix of lychee, guava, and honeydew melon.
The tree itself is compact and attractive, with dense foliage and smooth bark, making it ideal for small gardens, pots, or ornamental landscaping. It typically fruits within 4–6 years when grown from seed, and grafted trees can fruit even sooner. The fruits are not only delicious but also rich in antioxidants and vitamin C.
White Jaboticaba thrives in warm, humid climates and prefers slightly acidic, well-draining soil. With proper care, it can produce multiple harvests per year, especially when regularly watered and fed. Its unique appearance and gourmet-quality fruit make it a prized addition to rare fruit collections and exotic home orchards.
