White Sapote (Casimiroa edulis) – The Creamy Tropical Delight

The White Sapote is a subtropical fruit tree native to Mexico and Central America, known for its creamy, custard-like fruit and smooth, sweet flavor. Also called “Mexican Apple” or “Custard Apple” (not to be confused with Annona species), the fruit is round to oval with thin greenish-yellow skin and pale, creamy white flesh. Its flavor is often compared to a mix of banana, peach, and vanilla with a silky texture that melts in the mouth.

The tree is medium to large, fast-growing, and evergreen with glossy leaves and small white-green flowers. It thrives in warm climates and is tolerant of brief cold spells. When mature, it produces generous harvests of delicious fruits that are excellent for fresh eating, smoothies, and desserts.
