King White Mulberry (Morus alba ‘King White’)
The King White Mulberry is a rare and highly prized variety of mulberry known for its exceptionally large, sweet, and juicy white fruits. This unique cultivar produces long, plump berries that can grow up to several inches in length. The fruit has a soft, honey-like sweetness with mild floral notes, making it a delightful treat for fresh eating, desserts, or drying.
The berries are pale white to creamy-yellow when ripe and are virtually seedless, offering a smooth, melt-in-the-mouth texture. Unlike traditional red or black mulberries, King White Mulberry has a very low acidity, giving it a rich, sugary taste that’s often compared to honey or melon.
The tree itself is fast-growing, hardy, and drought-tolerant once established. It thrives in full sun and adapts well to a variety of soil types, preferring well-drained conditions. With its lush, green foliage and high productivity, it’s an excellent choice for both home gardens and small orchards. Besides its delicious fruit, the tree also serves as a natural shade provider and attracts beneficial pollinators.
King White Mulberry fruits in the spring and early summer, producing abundant harvests with minimal care. The berries can be enjoyed fresh off the tree, dried for snacks, or used in jams, smoothies, and baked goods.
